Vitamin D is critical for the health of the immune system and for strong healthy bones and teeth.
Vitamin D, although called a vitamin is actually a hormone. It is fat soluble, meaning it absorbs and stores using fats. Most of our Vitamin D is produced from our skins contact with UVB rays from the sun. Because our first line of production comes from our skins contact with sunshine, a large amount of us living in Canada are deficient due to our time spent inside and sunscreen use.
In fact, it is such a common deficiency that Medical Doctors actually just recommend supplementation upon suspected deficiency rather than testing blood levels. It is actually suspected that 90% of the North American population has a Vitamin D deficiency.
Ally of the immune system
Vitamin D is essential in the activation of various immune responses, there for making it critical for a strong and resistant immune system. It is integral for the health of our bones and teeth as it aids in the absorption and utilization of the minerals calcium and phosphorus. It actually helps calcium bond to our bones, so they can be strong and resilient. Health Canada specifically recommends that all adults over the age of 50 take a minimum supplement of 1000 UI of vitamin D every day, to help prevent osteoporosis and certain autoimmune diseases. The Canadian Cancer Society also recommends a daily vitamin D supplement, as deficiency of Vitamin D has been shown to increase risk of developing certain Cancers (breast and prostate).
Vitamin D deficiency, which as previously mentioned is a common occurrence, and can have many health complications and conditions. This includes an increased risk of cancer, osteoporosis, weak immune system, weakness, sleep issues, weak brittle enamel and bone loss.
Land Art Organic Vitamin D3 is an effective and economical option to meet your supplemental needs. One drop contains 1000 I.U. of Vitamin D3, the recommended daily dosage and at 490 drops a bottle it can last over a year. It is in liquid form for ease of absorption and utilization within the body.
Vitamin D3 has been shown clinically to be superior to Vitamin D2, which is the other form commonly found in supplements. According to recent research, Vitamin D3 is approximately 85% more effective at raising and maintaining Vitamin D levels. Vitamin D2 is much harder to absorb and utilize within the body, so supplementing with Vitamin D2 or relying on foods fortified with D2 is not as effective at raising and maintaining adequate Vitamin D levels.
