newsletter_landart_february

Aloe Vera is cultivated in many tropical places throughout the world, including Asia, Africa, India, the Caribbean, South America, Mexico and in the southern United States. It is a popular indoor plant and has been a long time favorite in our mothers own pharmacopeia.Aloe Vera leaves contain more than75 nutritional elements, 200 other components, 20 minerals (phosphorus, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc…), 18 amino acids and 12 vitamins (A, E and many of the B group).

An ally for healthy skin

Aloe contains very interesting properties when it comes to skin: healing, cellular regeneration, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic. This is why Aloe is particularly recommended for insect bites, eczema, skin irritations, rashes, sunburns and even for cold sores. We often forget to protect our skin from the aggressions of our environment. In winter, low humidity levels in our homes and cold air tend to rapidly dry our skin. In summer, it is particularly affected by sunburns and bug bites. Aloe is therefore a perfect year round ally for your skin. To fully appreciate the benefits, apply a generous coating of Aloe onto your skin and immediately feel a calming refreshing sensation that will soothe the pain, rehydrate the skin and speed healing. Aloe Vera has been used in cosmetics for a long time. Nowadays, the cosmetics industry puts forward possible skin treatments including this plant:
  • Stimulation of collagen production collagène
  • Treat burns des brûlures
  • Healing: many studies have shown that it reduces inflammatory effects and speeds healing
  • Fights aging le vieillissement (antioxidant)
  • Treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis (inflammation of the scalp also known as “cradle cap”« chapeau »)
After the publication of positive medical reports dating back to the 1930s, numerous experts have recommended Aloe Vera gel to prevent dermatitis caused by radiotherapy. Aloe Vera gel is also recommended to reduce discomfort after a tattooing session.

When we drink it

For some time, Aloe has also been used for its internal healing virtues ; intestinal troubles, acidity, constipation. Due to the emollient effect of the gel, it is often recommended to treat occasional constipation. Aloe Vera is also used for diarrhea due to its antibacterial, calming and healing effects in the intestines. Research has been conducted on patients suffering from intestinal illnesses such as light to moderate ulcerative colitis. The results indicate that after 4 weeks, the Aloe Vera was more effective than the placebo to improve the state of the patients. One to two tablespoons per day, pure or added to a glass of juice, are generally sufficient to maintain optimal health of the digestive system. Naturopaths have been recommending ingestion of Aloe Vera for a long time:
  • Treat canker sores sores (superficial ulcers that often form on the mucous membranes inside of the mouth)
  • Treat constipation and diarrhea
  • Reduce intestinal inflammation and irritation
  • Treat irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis
  • As an antioxidant
